Burger Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, dill pickle relish, and ketchup until well combined. Refrigerate while preparing the rest of the ingredients.
Caramelize Onions
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions with red wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
Prepare Patties
- Form ground beef into two patties, season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce, and rub a dash of mustard on each side.
Cook Patties
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until medium-well.
Grill Sandwiches
- Butter one side of four slices of rye bread. In the skillet, place two slices butter-side down, then layer with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and a beef patty. Top with muenster and another slice of buttered bread, then grill until golden brown.
Serve and Enjoy
- Once both sides are grilled, cut the patty melt in half and serve hot with your favorite side.
