  • 1 cup brown sugar light or dark brown sugar works

  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar coconut sugar is a healthier alternative
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon or add cayenne for a kick
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt regular table salt is a substitute

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter with brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until it comes to a boil (3-5 minutes).
  4. Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the saltine crackers and bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let them sit for about 5 minutes to melt.
  6. Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, then sprinkle over the melted chocolate.
  7. Add a pinch of sea salt on top for balance and flavor enhancement.
  8. Cool the toffee at room temperature for about 30 minutes before breaking it into pieces.
