  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cubed butternut squash, diced Gala apples, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and brown sugar or honey. Season with salt and black pepper.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a lidded baking dish and dot the top with butter. Cover and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. After 15 minutes, remove the lid and sprinkle golden raisins, dried cranberries, and nuts over the mixture. Toss gently and cover again.
