Preparation Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of heavy whipping cream, 1 cup of whole milk, and 1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice. Add 3/4 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of orange extract, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until smooth and sugar is dissolved (2-3 minutes).
- Optional: Stir in a few drops of orange food coloring for a vibrant hue.
- Pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and churn for 20-25 minutes until thickened.
- Transfer the mixture to an airtight container, press plastic wrap on the surface, seal, and freeze for 4-6 hours.
- Before serving, let the ice cream sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes to soften.
