- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook until al dente, about 9-11 minutes. Drain, reserving a cup of pasta water.
- In a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart. Add mushrooms, onion, and bell pepper, sauté for 4-5 minutes.
- Stir in the condensed French onion soup and Worcestershire sauce, mix for about 2 minutes to combine.
- Mix cold water with cornstarch until smooth, add to the skillet while stirring continuously. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.
- Add the drained penne pasta to the skillet and toss until well-coated. If too thick, add reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- Top with provolone and mozzarella cheese, then bake for 15 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
