Preparation
- Drain, rinse, and dry the black beans. Mash them in a bowl, leaving some chunky bits.
- Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until soft and translucent.
- Combine mashed black beans with sautéed onion, garlic, oats, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, soy sauce, and egg. Mix well.
- Divide mixture into 4-5 patties, place them on a plate, cover, and chill for 30 minutes.
Cooking
- For pan-frying, heat olive oil over medium heat and cook each patty for 4-5 minutes on each side.
- For baking, preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
Serving
- Serve patties on buns or over salad, topped with desired toppings.
