Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir until a sticky dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  4. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 portions. Roll each piece into an 18-inch rope and shape into pretzels.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil water in a large pot and add baking soda.
  6. Carefully boil each pretzel in the baking soda water for 30 seconds, then transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush the pretzels with beaten egg and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
