- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef for about 7–10 minutes until browned. Drain excess grease and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- In a mixing bowl, combine uncooked rice, French onion soup mix, and beef broth. Stir in sautéed ground beef and sour cream until well combined.
- Transfer the rice and beef mixture into the greased baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Sprinkle French fried onions on top and bake for another 5 minutes until crispy and golden.
