Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, add sugar over medium heat. Allow it to melt undisturbed.
  2. Once melted and golden, quickly pour it into an ungreased loaf pan, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, coconut milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and shredded coconut until smooth.
  4. Pour this mixture over the hardened caramel in your loaf pan.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake for 50-55 minutes in a water bath.
  6. Let it cool at room temperature for 30 minutes before refrigerating for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  7. To unmold, warm the loaf pan in warm water for a couple of minutes and invert onto a serving plate.
